In Case You Missed It: Acura Performance EV Concept Debuted At Monterey Car Week Last Month

Acura Performance EV Concept

So Acura has unveiled its Performance EV Concept, which is essentially a car that’s very good at looking futuristic and even better at teasing everyone about a future model that doesn’t exist yet. At Monterey Car Week, they rolled out this electric SUV concept that’s designed to make you rethink everything you know about EVs and SUVs.

Or maybe it’s just designed to make you think, “Hey, that looks like a hydrofoil superyacht.” Yes, you heard that right—the front fascia of this thing draws inspiration from luxury boats. Because, who doesn’t want their electric SUV to look like it can plow through both highways and waves?

Apparently, this electric SUV previews a production model that’s supposed to hit the streets in 2025, riding on a brand-new Honda-developed EV platform. And where will this future powerhouse be made? Ohio. Yes, Ohio—because where else would you build the high-tech electric chariot of the future?

This concept is a visual buffet. It’s slathered in “Moonlit White Pearl” paint, which is basically white with a fancy name, and it has a semi-matte finish to make sure it looks both shiny and not shiny at the same time. The sculpted sides are dramatic enough to make you feel like the car itself is flexing, and the rear design borrows cues from the NSX because Acura knows that throwing in a sports car reference is always a good move. There’s an upswept decklid, a full-width taillight, and a diffuser that’s big enough to… well, let’s just say it’s big enough to impress anyone who happens to be looking at your rear end.

The Performance EV Concept rolls on 23-inch wheels because 22 inches just wouldn’t have been enough to convey its dominance. These aren’t just any wheels—they have a sculptural design that includes brushed machined edges and a spoke pattern that looks like it’s moving even when it’s parked. Wide 295/35R23 tires wrap around those behemoth wheels, just in case you were worried that your electric SUV wouldn’t have enough grip on your commute to the grocery store.

And let’s not forget the neon green brake calipers. Yes, neon green, because nothing says “performance” like the ability to stop dramatically. Acura claims the brakes are high-performance, and they’ve drilled holes into them because that’s what you do when you’re serious about stopping a car. These four-piston calipers are also Moonlit White, to match the rest of the car because color coordination is key in the electrified future.

So, what does this concept really mean? It means Acura is leaning hard into the electric game with designs that might make your heart race—or at least make you consider trading in your current vehicle for something that looks like it might belong in a sci-fi movie. Pricing? Well, since this is a concept, there’s no price yet. But considering the drama of its debut, you can bet it won’t be budget-friendly.
