Apple HomeView Launched: Hello, iMac G4, Is That You?

Apple HomeView Smart Home Display

Apple has made a smart home display, and it looks like someone missed the iMac G4. Folks, meet Apple HomeView, a 7-inch screen perched on a domed speaker base. It won’t replace your Mac, but it will let you FaceTime someone while trying not to burn dinner.

We have seen what the Google Nest Hub Max and Amazon Echo Show can do. Now Apple wants a spot on your kitchen counter, too. If your home is already full of Apple devices, this might be the one you have been waiting for.

An A18 chip powers the device, whose 7-inch Liquid Retina display tilts on a stainless-steel hinge. True Tone and automatic brightness adjust to the room, while the interface changes with your viewing distance. HomeView recognizes up to six users, serving each a personalized home screen.

Siri AI handles conversational requests, with personal-context features requiring a paired Apple Intelligence-compatible iPhone or iPad. FaceTime gets Center Stage framing, and smart home controls support Matter accessories and up to nine simultaneous camera feeds.

The tabletop model packs two full-range drivers, a down-firing woofer, and two force-cancelling passive radiators. A separate wall-mounted version offers two drivers and requires a mounting accessory.

There are photo displays and animated faces, too, including Snoopy. Having the beagle on kitchen duty sounds like a questionable staffing decision, but he does look good on a screen.

HomeView comes in silver, starlight, rose pink, and space gray; the wall version offers silver or space gray. Both cost US$299, with pre-orders open and availability beginning November 13, 2026.
