Aurzen BOOM air: A Projector That Points Wherever Your Binge-Watching Heart Desires

Aurzen BOOM air Portable Projector

Ever wish your projector could project on the wall, on the ceiling, and perhaps at any angle in between? Well, there are a few projectors that will allow you to do that, and the Aurzen BOOM air is one of them. Referred to as a searchlight-style projector, this latest projector from Aurzen is a smart projector loaded with Google TV. Google TV, IMO, is far superior to the dated Android TV. If you don’t already know the differences between the two, you can check out our article on Android TV vs. Google TV.

Anyhoo, just like Android TV, you will have access to a world of entertainment—even more if you are willing to pay for monthly subscriptions like Netflix, Prime Video, Apple TV+, and so on. As far as the hardware goes, the BOOM air rocks native 1080p and fully supports HDR10 and 4K inputs. The projector may be tumbler-size, but it is not lacking in features, including a built-in 10 W speaker with Dolby Audio that’s surprisingly punchy for something that weighs just 1.23 kilograms (2.7 lbs).

This little light cannon has a ToF sensor for real-time focus, automatic keystone correction, and even auto screen alignment. Oh, and if there’s a plant, lamp, or possibly a cat in the way? It’ll dodge it like it’s been trained in projector parkour. The 110° adjustable stand means it can tilt pretty much however you want, so go ahead—project on the ceiling while lying in bed like the majestic sloth you are.

It’s USB-C powered and works with 65 W PD power banks, which means movie night can happen anywhere. Tent? Treehouse? Power outage? No problem. Well, no problem as long as you have a suitable power bank and a flat surface. There’s dual-band Wi-Fi, HDMI input, Google Cast support, and 2-way Bluetooth—so you can send audio out to a Bluetooth speaker or stream in directly from your phone. There is a headphone jack for those who want to enjoy the sound privately.

In pitch black, it can go up to 200 inches. In a normal room with lights on, 60 inches is the sweet spot. And if you’re into vibes, there’s even an optional AuroraBeam Lens that turns it into a star projector. Because, not having it turned into a night sky projector will be a huge missed opportunity.

Available now on Aurzen.com and Amazon for US$299.99.
