What makes LEGO City so alluring is its realistic city scenes. But the realism stops short of real-life branding. The CaDA Bricks Shell Service Station (C66025W) fills that gap.
It is not quite the kind of simple set LEGO City is known for. It is more like LEGO Architecture, except it is a gas station—which I never imagined the Danish toy company would do.
The C66025W isn’t the first Shell gas station from CaDA. The company previously had a simpler Shell station. This new set takes that idea and gives it a much more realistic spin.
Officially licensed by Shell, the set uses a whopping 1,697 pieces to recreate a highly detailed service station, complete with fluted cladding cornices, a Shell-branded signboard with service icons, a manual car lift, a customer rest area for refreshments and relaxation, and a repair workshop equipped with an engine hoist, tire rack, air compressor, tire balancer, and more.
The rest area is accessible through a set of sliding doors. Meanwhile, the car lift area connects directly to the repair workshop, as it should, while the repair section also has access to the rest area. The back wall swings open to reveal the workshop in full, with a parts rack, rims rack, and toolbox neatly mounted on the inside of the wall.
The set also includes an 8-wide Shell-branded car for repair role-play. As before, where there are graphics, they are all printed elements—absolutely no stickers involved. Absolutely no stickers are involved.
Rounding out the set is a USB-powered lighting kit with eight lighting modes that brings the model to life. When completed, the model measures 32.4 cm (12.8 in.) wide, 25.6 cm (10.1 in.) deep, and 13.2 cm (5.2 in.) high.
