There are soundbars and there are soundbars that, when you looked at the asking price, you thought you are looking at a multi-speaker home entertainment setup. The Devialet Dione Dolby Atmos 5.1.2 Soundbar you see here belongs to the latter.
The asking price for this audiophile/cinephile-grade soundbar is a pretty bonkers US$2,400. To give you some perspective, Bowers & Wilkins Panorama 3 is under a thousand.
To be fair, the Devialet Dione Dolby Atmos 5.1.2 Soundbar is technically multispeaker because packed inside the long, rectangular bar are no less than seventeen (!) autonomous high-end drivers, powered by proprietary Devialet technologies to deliver deep infrabass and crystal-clear treble.
The result is a super sleek and yet a little unusual-looking Dolby Atmos 5.1.2 soundbar with 101 dB SPL and 950 watts RMS. That is a lot of power from one bar. And mind you, there is no separate sub in this setup.
One of the star features of this soundbar has to be the eye-catching sphere in the center – you know, the thing that makes it look so, well, unusual. The sphere is called an ORB. It is a patented design central channel that allows Dione to adapt mechanically and acoustically to the position of the soundbar, either wall-mounted or place on a surface.
Other highlights include HDMI 2.1, Bluetooth 5.0, support for Apple Airplay 2, ARC & eARC, CEC TV remote synchronization (for control using the TV remote), preset modes (Movie, Spatial, Voice, and Music), built-in mics for sound calibration (using the Devialet app), and SPACE technology for upscales any mono or stereo signal into a 5.1.2 signal for an immersive, 3D audio experience.
