Turntable enthusiasts who loathed the built-in phono stage may want to check out this new kid on the turntable block. From China’s audiophile products and equipment maker Fosi Audio is Luna3, the brand’s first turntable. The goal was simple: a minimalist record player that delivers a clean analog signal path.
It is so bare that it does not even have a built-in phono stage, no preamp, and no unnecessary circuits. The insides are as minimal as the exterior—a matte black slab contrasted by a bright orange mat, an acrylic platter, and a tonearm that means business.
If the acrylic platter is too plain for your taste, Fosi offers optional custom sticker skins to jazz it up. Personally, I won’t do that. The original clear platter already looks the part. Besides, that orange mat is loud enough. Why ruin the vibe?
With no internal phono stage and no signal detours, the Luna3 finally gives purpose to that external preamp you’ve been eyeing. You get to build your setup exactly how you want it—no babying, no built-in safety net.
It comes pre-fitted with an Audio-Technica VM95E cartridge, features manual anti-skating, ±0.11% servo speed control, and a copper motor head—all packed into a package that’s more form-follows-function than bells and whistles. The stylus and headshell are replaceable, too, so you’re not locked into anything.
Whether you’re new to vinyl or you’ve sworn off anything with Bluetooth, Luna3 is a reminder that less really can be more—especially when less gets out of the way and lets your music shine.
Luna3 is now live on Kickstarter, where you can secure a unit by pledging 2,099 Hong Kong dollars or more (about US$269, according to Kickstarter). The campaign has been funded, and all that’s left to do is for it to end and Fosi Audio to fulfill the pledges. Fosi Audio is, btw, a veteran on Kickstarter, having 7 successfully funded campaigns since 2023.
