cutting edge technology, striking look and audiophile-grade sound. if the aforementioned qualities are what you look for in a pair of headphones, then the HiFiMAN HE-400 might be your cup of tea. we know those are what we are after too and so naturally, the aesthetic of the HE-400 draws us to it first, and as we read on, we just felt in love with it. what makes this pair of huge music cans special is its drivers. instead of your usual dynamic drivers, it uses cutting edge (and pricey) planar magnetic drivers to deliver HiFiMAN signature sonic that is said to “very detailed yet warm.” another notable feature is its 92.5DB sensitivity, which allows this full size over-the-ear cans to be driven by virtually anything, including your iPod. of course, we couldn’t judge its sound until a proper audition but just its aesthetic and the technology already had us intoxicated. as a person who knows the market, you might already half-expecting a wallet-hurting price tag for a pair of planar magnetic driven cans but instead, HiFiMAN surprises with its affordable $399 price tag. click through for a few more look.
