Lamborghini Enters The Metaverse With Its First NFT Which Will Be Auctioned In February

Lamborghini Space Key and NFT Announced

It shouldn’t be a surprise that luxury sports car marque like Lamborghini is dipping in NFT (non-fungible token). It is not a question of will it, it is a question of when. So, yes, Lamborghini is taking its first step into the metaverse with NFT.

However, it is doing so a little differently. The raging bull marque’s NFT is tied to the so-called Lamborghini Space Key, which is a piece of advanced carbon fiber composite material that was sent to the International Space Station (ISS) in 2019 and back as part of a joint research project involving the Italian marque.

Limited to just five units, each numbered Space Key is linked to an exclusive and purely digital artwork by an undisclosed artist unlocked with a QR code on the back of the material.

What the artwork is about is unknown but we do know that it is space-themed by renowned artist Fabian Hefner. Lamborghini will be offering up the Lamborghini Space Key NFT through an auction.

Automobili Lamborghini has partnered with NFT PRO and RM Sotheby’s to auction five pairs of physical and digital artworks by Hefner. The auction dates have been confirmed to be February 01, 2022, to February 04, 2022, and it will take place on nft.lamborghini.com, starting at 4 PM CET.

Details of the auction are as follow:

“The auction for the first of the five NFTs will take place on nft.lamborghini.com start at 4:00 pm CET, while each of the other auctions will start and end 15 minutes later then their preceding one. Every auction will last for 75 hours and 50 minutes, the exact time it took Apollo 11 to leave Earth and enter the moon’s orbit – not the only reference to human space exploration.”
