LEGO Introduces a Moddable Ford Mustang GT Technic Set

LEGO Technic Custom Garage Ford Mustang GT Car (42236)

Wait a minute… is LEGO trying to give Mattel Brick Shop a run for its money? Because it now also has a “moddable” LEGO set. Folks, meet the new LEGO Technic Custom Garage Ford Mustang GT Car (42236), a new type of LEGO Technic set that lets kids (but let’s get real, probably just you) customize the model like modding a car in real life.

But obviously, it is not going to be as comprehensive in terms of “mods” as the Mattel Brick Shop sets, like the latest Aston Martin Vantage GT3 set. Neither will it come with a smaller, die-cast version of the model. However, you do get two sets of bodywork pieces to mix and match to achieve different looks. Included are a stylish paintwork set and graffiti-inspired body pieces.

Beyond the interchangeable panels, the LEGO Technic Custom Garage Ford Mustang GT Car (42236) also brings the expected Technic mechanical touches. The model features working steering and a detailed engine under the hood, giving builders something to interact with after deciding which version of the Mustang to display. It is basically a build first, customize later model.

The two styling directions give the car noticeably different personalities. One setup presents a cleaner performance-shop look, while the graffiti-style panels make the Mustang feel more like a street machine straight out of a tuner scene. So this is kind of a way to fulfill your project-car fantasy, rather than just another LEGO Technic model.

The set includes 823 pieces, and when completed, the brick-built Ford Mustang GT measures approximately 27 cm (10.5 inches) long, 13 cm (5 inches) wide, and 9 cm (3.5 inches) tall.

Recommended for builders aged 9 and up, the LEGO Technic Custom Garage Ford Mustang GT Car (42236) will be available starting August 01, 2026, priced at US$99.99.
