Solvia ED 8×32: AI Binoculars with 2K Vision and Instant Wildlife ID

MatataXplore Solvia ED 8x32 AI Binoculars

AI is creeping into every aspect of our lives. Some may argue its threats—like job loss, increasing laziness, or even aiding criminal activity. But for nature lovers—especially bird watchers—AI might just be a welcome guest.

MatataXplore, a sub-brand of MATATALAB CO., LTD., is launching an AI-imbued binocular that’ll take your birdwatching to the next level. That’s right—AI has made its way into binoculars. Meet the MatataXplore Solvia ED 8×32 AI Binoculars, a device so high-tech it wouldn’t be out of place in a Solid Snake stealth mission—assuming the targets were birds, of course.

The Solvia ED 8×32 doesn’t just let you observe nature from afar—in brilliant color, crisp detail, and breathtaking clarity—it also lets you capture and relive those moments via a companion app. Its so-called TrueFrame system promises to replicate exactly what you see through the lens in true 1:1 visual accuracy. It records 2K-resolution stills and videos at 23fps, so your memories stay sharp, even after the birds have flown off.

The star of the show, though, is the AI-powered identification. With a single press, it can recognize birds, plants, and other wildlife in seconds, with results displayed on a built-in 2.8″ touchscreen. AI bird ID isn’t new, but inside a pair of binoculars? That’s a first.

And since we live in the “I see, I share” era, of course, you can live-stream your view across devices or post your best shots directly to social media, yes, also with just a tap.

As for the specs: the Solvia ED 8×32 is, as the name suggests, an 8×32 binocular with an ~380mm equivalent lens, a 7.6° field of view, and a 1/2.7″ 8 MP CMOS sensor that promises “feather-clear” images at 100 meters. All of this is packed into a sleek, military-style shell that weighs just 560 grams.

Other features include 32 GB of onboard storage, electronic image stabilization, manual diopter adjustment, a 2,600 mAh battery, direct Wi-Fi connectivity, a USB port, and IP64-rated protection.

And no, this isn’t a fixed package. It’s expandable. An optional expansion module will allow add-ons like a compass, polarizing filter, GPS tagging, light module, and even an extra battery. Bold ambition for MATATALAB’s first foray into optical and imaging gear.

The Solvia ED 8×32 AI Binoculars will be heading to Kickstarter soon—though when, exactly, remains unclear. If you’re already intrigued, you can sign up to be notified when the campaign goes live. As for the price, it is expected to have a retail price of US$499, but it will start at just US$269 during its crowdfunding campaign.
