Clearly, Playmobil understands that its toy vehicles are as much as kids’ toys as collectibles. The German toy maker has released two new special editions of Volkswagen Playmobil toy cars.
The first is the Playmobil 70827 Volkswagen Beetle Special Edition. It is based on the brand’s previous offering but in new colors and chrome detailing.
The 70827 also comes with a bunch of accessories, including things like a bucket, sponge, water house, and more, for “at-home care car.”
Features include the iconic shape we have all come to adore, round rear view mirrors in chrome, roof rack with straps to secure the luggage, a 4-cylinder boxer in the trunk, and a detailed interior with room for four Playmobil figures (though the set is supplied with just one Playmobil character). All told, the playset has 51 pieces.
The second set is a VW T1 bus, based on the recently released playset. Like the special edition Beetle, the Playmobil 70826 Volkswagen T1 Camping Bus Special Edition is a limited edition version featuring new colors and chrome bits.
It further features a fully-equipped interior, removable roof, storage inside doors, and plentiful accessories for a surfing trip (of tiny proportion, that is). The set comes with a Playmobil figure along with a Border Collie.
Both the Playmobil 70827 Volkswagen Beetle Special Edition and Playmobil 70826 Volkswagen T1 Camping Bus Special Edition are limited edition collectible toys and are numbered. They are available from Playmobil.us for US$59.99 and US$69.99 a pop.
