Porsche Celebrates 50 Years Of Porsche Design With Limited Targa 4 GTS

911 Porsche Design 50th Anniversary Edition

Porsche Classic has a special gift for Porsche Design which turns 50 this year: a restored 911 S 2.4 Targa from 1972 – the year which Porsche Design was founded.

The restored 1972 Porsche 911 S 2.4 Targa.

The restored 1972 911 S 2.4 Targa features the same colors as the legendary Chronograph I watch Ferdinand Alexander Porsche designed in 1972. It is a beautiful ride that took Porsche Classic 2 years to complete and one that money cannot buy.

Fortunately, there is another commemorative ride that money can buy, the 911 Porsche Design 50th Anniversary Edition:

Limited to just 750 units, the 911 Porsche Design 50th Anniversary Edition boasts features and details that pay homage to the original 911 which was penned by Ferdinand Alexander Porsche.

Now, you see why Porsche Design’s Golden Jubilee is extra special? For Porsche enthusiasts, the 911 Porsche Design 50th Anniversary Edition is extra special too.

Like the restored 911, the 911 Porsche Design 50th Anniversary Edition is also a 911 Targa, specifically the 911 Targa 4 GTS, and like the restored model, it is rocking a plain black paint job, along with edition unique features like 911 Turbo S wheels (20 inches front and 21 inches rear), high-gloss black calipers, Porsche Design 50th Anniversary branding, and Sport Chrono Package with the Porsche Design Subsecond clock featuring red second hand – which is a nod to the Chronograph I from 1972 – on the dashboard.

Powered by a 3.0L turbocharged flat-six motor that produces 473 horsepower and develops 570 Nm (420 lb-ft) of torque, it is equipped with an eight-speed Porsche dual-clutch transmission (PDK), or a seven-speed manual gearbox, Porsche Active Suspension Management (PASM), high-performance brakes, and sports exhaust system with GTS tuning.

The 911 Porsche Design 50th Anniversary Edition is available to order with a starting price of US$183,000.
