The anticipation for the next-generation Samsung Galaxy folding phones ended today when the electronics giant revealed the new Samsung Galaxy Z Fold6 and Z Flip6. Like the Samsung Galaxy S24, the lead innovation here is AI, or Galaxy AI as it is now called. Samsung revealed the new Galaxy Z Fold6 and Z Flip6 at an event in Paris on July 10.
The Samsung Galaxy Z Fold6 features a large screen and Note Assist for AI-powered productivity tools like translation and transcription directly in Samsung Notes. It integrates Google Gemini for AI assistance across various apps and offers advanced photo editing with AI tools like Photo Assist and Portrait Studio. The Fold6 is designed for durability with a dual rail hinge and enhanced screen protection.
The Samsung Galaxy Z Flip6, optimized for portability, boasts a 3.4-inch FlexWindow that allows AI-assisted tasks without opening the device. It offers a customizable user experience with real-time wallpapers and AI-powered camera features like Auto Zoom. The Flip6’s camera system includes a 50MP Wide and 12MP Ultra-Wide sensor with enhanced night photography capabilities.
Both models feature the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 Mobile Platform, offering superior AI processing and graphics performance. They also emphasize durability with enhanced Armor Aluminum and Corning Gorilla Glass Victus 23. Additionally, recycled materials and eco-friendly packaging reflect Samsung’s commitment to sustainability.
The Galaxy Z Fold6, Z Flip6, and Galaxy Buds3 series are available for pre-order starting today, July 10, with general availability beginning July 24. The Fold6 comes in Silver Shadow, Pink, and Navy, while the Flip6 is offered in Silver Shadow, Yellow, Blue, and Mint. The Galaxy Buds3 series features a modern design in Silver and White.
The new Samsung Galaxy Z Fold6 and the new Samsung Galaxy Z Flip6 are available for pre-order, unlocked, or with a carrier contract, at Samsung.com. Pre-order prices start at US$1,899.99 for the Galaxy Z Fold6 and US$449.99 for the Galaxy Z Flip6.
In related news, Samsung has also revealed a custom-built Galaxy Z Flip6 smartphone that it will provide to nearly 17,000 athletes competing at the Paris 2024. The device is presented in a striking yellow colorway adorned with the Olympic rings and Paralympic agitos in gold. The camera rings are treated to the same lovely yellow colorway.
It will come with special packaging indicating a Paris 2024 special device. Inside, the phone features Paris 2024-themed interactive apps, and is pre-loaded with IOC apps, and Samsung Wallet for free beverages and public transport.
Oh, the device also includes a 100 GB 5G data eSIM and is covered by a two-year international warranty. The device will be available to athletes from July 18. Expect the device to emerge in the market soon after the games.
