TVs have been trying to disappear into walls for years, but the Skyworth A8H comes closer than most without giving up the hardware that makes a high-end television worth staring at. Billed as the industry’s first SQD-MiniLED TV, this 2026 “wallpaper TV” squeezes serious display hardware into a body measuring just 3.9 cm (1.54 in) thick.
SQD stands for Super Quantum Dot, an evolution of quantum-dot MiniLED technology designed to produce purer, more precise colors. It works alongside the MiniLED backlight rather than replacing it, helping the A8H cover a claimed 110% of the DCI-P3 color gamut with color accuracy of ΔE≤0.6.
The skinny profile, meanwhile, is largely made possible by Skyworth’s ultra-short OD 10 optical design, which reduces the distance between the backlight and display panel to just 10 mm (0.39 in). In other words, it does not need a deep body to spread the light evenly.
On the 85-inch model, that backlight is divided into 3,600 physical dimming zones and can reach a claimed peak brightness of 5,500 nits. Skyworth also throws in its Chameleon AI Picture Quality Chip S7 and a four-layer “Huajing Screen” treatment combining anti-glare and low-reflection properties. Daytime viewing should therefore not require the ceremonial closing of every curtain.
Gamers get a native 150 Hz refresh rate, an optional 300 Hz mode, and two full-bandwidth HDMI 2.1 ports. There is also 4 GB of RAM, 64 GB of storage, and, mercifully, no startup advertising. Finally, you can play video games with your PC with the best GPUs you can afford. I used to have a TV that does only 60Hz, and I can tell you this: you will not be able to play graphics-intensive games. That changes when I changed to one that runs at 144 Hz.
Sound comes from a Harman 7.1.2-channel system packing 12 drivers and 270 W of total output. Still, physics remains physics. A television this thin has limited room for deep bass, so serious low-frequency enthusiasts may want to budget for a soundbar.
The Skyworth A8H is currently a China-market model. International availability has not been announced. It is available in 65-, 75-, and 85-inch models with prices starting at 6,999 yuan [CH] (about US$1,043) in China.
Oh, I need to mention that the screen is matte texture so reflection of any kind will not happen and kill the dark scenes. On the other hand, if a glossy display is your cuppa, then this TV is probably not for you.
