Released in 1987, Spaceballs is a sci-fi parody/comedy that has aged well with time. It was not a huge commercial success when it was first released, but like a fine wine, it has been appreciated more as time passes. So much so that it is considered iconic and a film that fans would love to see a sequel to. Well, a sequel it now has—or will have. Amazon MGM Studios posted an announcement video by the OG director, filmmaker, comedian, actor, writer, and composer, Mel Brooks, confirming there’s going to be a Spaceballs sequel, and revealing the title, Spaceballs: The New One.
The film is expected to hit theaters on April 23, 2027, just in time for the movie’s 40th anniversary. There’s not a lot to talk about at this point. There are no hints on the plot, the director, producer(s), or suggestions of who might be starring in the sequel. All you need to know is the video below.
