There are many luxury watches that drawn inspiration from 60s and 70s, but being luxury watches, they often cost tens of thousands dollars and those stickers aren’t exactly what mere working mortals can afford. We are not saying those watches are frivolous. Lets just say that they are for different of kind beings. For the rest of us who yearn for the luxury feel of the 70s, there’s the Straton Speciale Watch to look out for. It is pretty, isn’t it? In fact, I shouldn’t even need to say anything. One look, you know you are looking at a beauty.
However we thought we should let in on a few details before you jump into it. It comes in two case finishes: polished or matte, a choice of straps with the option to go all-metal with the metal bracelet, and it is powered by Swiss-made Valjoux 7750 with day/date automatic movement or, if you desire, Seiko/TMI VK67 meca-quartz movement. Personally, I’d go for matte, the most colorful strap possible and automotive movement. But that just me.
Anyways, other noteworthy details include 316L stainless steel case with DLC clear coat, 42 mm case diameter (40.8 mm lug-to-lug), 13 mm or 14.9 mm case thickness with dome sapphire, 60 or 30 minute chrono timer, 12-hour chrono timer, seconds dial (on VK67 movement only), luminescent hour hands (C3 Superluminova), screw down crow, 22 mm width strap and water resistance up to 10 ATM (100 meters or 328 feet).
While it is not the same era as Charles Eames, but for some reasons, it has a strong Eames vibe to it. Anyways, if have a thing for the 70s, then the Straton Speciale Watch is the watch for you.
