TECNO’s New Folding Phone, The PHANTOM V Fold2, Is Powered By Dimensity And Designed By LOEWE.

TECNO PHANTOM V Fold2 Folding Phone

TECNO has a new folding phone, called PHANTOM V Fold2. It may be a PHANTOM device—TECNO’s premium line—it is not any old premium design; like the CAMON 30 LOEWE. Design Edition, the new TECNO PHANTOM V Fold2’s premium design is enabled by the purveyor of luxury electronics goods, LOEWE.

It is 5G, obviously, and under the hood, it wants to be an all-rounder for business—powered by TECNO AI. The device marries TECNO’s vast experience in mobile phone design and development with the super German engineering of LOEWE. The presence of the German super brand is evident; it does bear the LOEWE’s signature minimalist elegance.

As with many Chinese handset makers, TECNO is also gunning for thin and light. While not the thinnest nor the lightest, the TECNO PHANTOM V Fold2 is still pretty impressive at 5.5 mm in open state, and tipping the scales at just 249g.

In the folding tech department, it touts an aerospace-grade proprietary hinge design that promises a crease of equal or less than 0.1 mm. In addition to being tested for over 400,000 folds, it also allows for multiple-angle positioning from 30-120°.

Clever stacking solution and the use of lightweight materials like fiberglass, aluminum, and titanium enables it to achieve the thinnest and lightweightedness.

The 6.42” TECNO PHANTOM V Fold2 opens to a smart device with an expansive 7.85” screen. Both the main and secondary displays are AMOLED items with the main screen rocking 2K+ (2,296 x 2,000 pixels) resolution and the external display FHD+ (2,550 x 1,080 pixels).

The displays tout support for Dolby Atmos, 120 Hz LTPO adaptive refresh rate, 1,000,000:1 contrast ratio, and 100% P3 color gamut. With the device, TECNO also introduces the PHANTOM V Pen, a multi-functional light writing pen with pixel-level precise control. Strangely though, it is powered by the same chip as its predecessor, the MediaTek Dimensity 9000+.

Like folding of such nature, it has two front-facing cameras, each outfitted with a 32 MP sensor. Meanwhile, the main camera module, dubbed Cloud Step Design, boasts a 50 MP tri-camera setup. Mind you. That’s 50 MP across all three cameras, not the leading camera only.

There is a 50 MP 11/3” main camera with OIS, a 50 MP 115° FoV ultra-wide camera, and a 50 MP portrait camera that has 2x optical zoom and 20x digital zoom.

The device is kept juiced by a dual cell setup with 5,750 mAh (known as Aircell battery) that supports 70 W ultra charge and 15 W fast wireless charging.

It is “IP54-grade” for dust and water resistance, with IP68-grade waterproof Type-c components, water and dustproof side key seal structure, and a 360° waterproof middle frame. That’s not it. It is also a 1-meter (3.3 feet) drop test certified.

Other details include Wi-Fi 6E, Bluetooth 5.3, 5G radios, Android 14, and the usual suspect of sensors expected of flagship folding phone. The TECNO PHANTOM V Fold2 is offered 24 GB RAM (including 12 GB extended RAM) and 512 GB storage.

It is not clear when it will be available and for how much. Meanwhile, you may learn more HERE.
