As expected, the new M6 chip has also arrived in the MacBook Pro, starting with the 14-inch model, joining the Mac mini and the updated iMac in the initial wave of all-new Apple silicon.
And just like the new iMac, the 14-inch MacBook Pro isn’t getting a makeover. Apple is sticking with the familiar design, which, to be fair, still looks pretty darn good. Instead, the improvements are happening under the hood, where the M6 promises more processing muscle, faster graphics, and a healthy dose of AI capabilities. Oh, and battery life remains ridiculously good.
The new M6 packs a 12-core CPU and 12-core GPU, both gaining two additional cores over the M5. Apple claims up to 30% faster graphics performance and 25% faster on-device AI workloads compared to its predecessor. For anyone still hanging on to an M1 MacBook Pro, the improvements are even more dramatic, with up to 11x faster graphics and 13x faster AI performance.
The GPU now features Neural Accelerators in every core, working alongside a Dual 16-core Neural Engine to handle demanding AI tasks, including running large language models locally. There’s also up to 170 GB/s of memory bandwidth, 16 GB of unified memory as standard, and configurations offering up to 32 GB.
Naturally, the new MacBook Pro also gets macOS 27 Golden Gate and the smarter Siri AI, which can search through your emails, messages, and photos, understand what’s on your screen, and perform tasks across apps. Siri AI is currently in beta with macOS 27.2, though, so the AI revolution still comes with a little fine print.
Beyond AI, the M6 MacBook Pro gains Wi-Fi 7 and Bluetooth 6. You still get three Thunderbolt 4 ports, HDMI, an SDXC card slot, MagSafe 3, and a headphone jack. The 14-inch Liquid Retina XDR display remains a beauty, offering up to 1,600 nits of peak HDR brightness, with an optional nano-texture finish for keeping annoying reflections at bay.
Other familiar goodies include a 12 MP Center Stage camera, a six-speaker sound system, and support for up to two external displays. Battery life stretches to an impressive 24 hours, and with a compatible charger, you can get up to 50% charge in just 30 minutes. Not bad for a machine that can spend an entire day away from a power outlet without throwing a tantrum.
Available in space black and silver, the new 14-inch MacBook Pro with M6 opens for pre-orders on October 28, with availability starting November 6, 2026.
The Apple 14-inch MacBook Pro with M6 starts at US$1,999.
