Aston Martin has lopped the top off its mid-engined supercar, the Valhalla. But don’t worry, the British automaker hasn’t chopped away any of its performance in the process. The new Aston Martin Valhalla Spider retains all 1,079 PS (1,064 hp) of its Coupe sibling’s plug-in hybrid powertrain, along with its blistering 350 km/h (217 mph) top speed.
As with the Coupe, the Spider packs a 4.0-liter twin-turbocharged, flat-plane-crank V8 producing 828 PS (817 hp), assisted by three electric motors contributing another 251 PS (247 hp). Combined torque stands at 1,100 Nm (811 lb-ft), with power managed through an eight-speed dual-clutch transmission and all-wheel drive.
The biggest change, of course, is the removable roof. A stowable fabric top comes standard, although it limits top speed to 200 km/h (124 mph) when fitted. An optional carbon-fiber hardtop restores the full 350 km/h (217 mph) capability. Interestingly, the Spider can also achieve that speed completely topless.
To make that possible, Aston Martin has redesigned the roof-mounted air snorkel, raising it by 35 mm (1.4 inches), and added a removable wind deflector. Revised active aerodynamics and stability-control calibrations help maintain performance, with downforce exceeding 600 kg (1,323 lbs) when the roof is fitted.
The Spider retains the Coupe’s carbon-fiber tub and dramatic dihedral doors, now featuring frameless windows. New carbon-fiber Touring Seats come standard, while the Coupe’s more supportive seats remain a no-cost alternative.
The Valhalla Spider will make its public debut at the 2026 Concours at Wynn Las Vegas, with customer deliveries beginning in the third quarter of 2027. Pricing has not been announced. It may not be available now, but you can start fantasizing about this beautiful car by having a go at configuring it.
