When Toyota took the wrap of the much anticipated rebirth of the Toyota Supra at NAIAS last week, it also revealed that the first 2020 Toyota Supra GR off the production line will go under the hammer at the Barrett-Jackson Auction in Scottsdale, Arizona, and went on the block it did. Not only did the first production 2020 Toyota Supra GR, dubbed “Global #1”, was auctioned, but it was successfully claimed for a cool US$2.1 million by an unnamed bidder. Here’s the first look of the 2020 Toyota Supra you shouldn’t be seeing and we have Toyota Mexico to thank that we are seeing it ahead of its global reveal. Apparently, last week (January 11), Toyota Mexico accidentally tweeted a video of the supercar which was supposed to make its debut at the North America International Auto Show (NAIAS, AKA Detroit Motor Show) later today (January 14, 2019) when we should have the official words on the powertrain and other details, possibly including the availability and pricing.
