Universal Studios Hollywood has stopped making us idle at the starting line. Fast & Furious: Hollywood Drift will officially open on September 16, 2026. The attraction is Universal Studios Hollywood’s first high-speed outdoor roller coaster.
As befits a franchise featuring plenty of fast cars, this latest thrill ride sends riders along 4,100 feet (1,250 meters) of track at up to 72 mph (116 km/h), using ride vehicles capable of rotating 360 degrees to simulate drifting.
Four cars inspired by the movies will be available: Dom’s 1970 Dodge Charger R/T, Han’s 1997 Mazda RX-7, Brian’s 2002 Nissan Skyline GT-R R34, and his 1994 Toyota Supra MK IV. Choosing one may be the hardest decision you make before voluntarily surrendering control of your internal organs.
The coaster features four launches, multiple inversions, and sections running above the Starway escalators between the Upper and Lower Lots. Onboard audio will supply the movie atmosphere, although riders screaming about their breakfast will probably provide most of the soundtrack.
Technical rehearsals have already allowed some visitors aboard, but September 16 is when the ride properly opens to the public. Remember: it does not matter which car you board. Once the restraint comes down, everyone is family.
