G-SHOCK Ref. 6900 – Subtract By Ed Sheeran: G-Shock DW6900ESC239 By Ed Sheeran For HODINKEE

Casio Baby-G x Tweety BGD-565TW-5 Wristwatch

What you see here is the G-Shock DW6900ESC239 by Ed Sheeran otherwise known as G-Shock DW6900ESC239 By Ed Sheeran For HODINKEE. I know right? I never knew Ed Sheeran was an artist himself. Anyhoo, this is yet another artiste-touched G-Shock after John Mayer. And it is, well, very Ed Sheeran. I don’t why I say that but it just felt oh-so-Ed Sheeran when we first saw it.

The G-SHOCK Ref. 6900 – Subtract by Ed Sheeran draws inspiration from Sheeran’s latest album artwork, “Subtract,” where an abstract portrayal of Ed’s face, somewhat resembling a heart, takes center stage. This album marks the culmination of Sheeran’s mathematical series of releases, offering a heartfelt and candid reflection on his life during the recording process.

Translating this honest self-expression into the design of the watch, the G-SHOCK Ref. 6900 – Subtract by Ed Sheeran boldly showcases a bright yellow resin case and strap, complemented by black watercolor splatters reminiscent of the album’s artwork. The black strap keeper, Mode, Start/Stop, Adjust, and Split/Reset indicators provide a striking contrast against the yellow backdrop. The illuminator button at the base of the dial also sports the same yellow and black color scheme.

The dial itself serves as an abstract rendition of Ed’s visage, with a sketched subtraction sign positioned at 12 o’clock, mirroring the “Subtract” album cover. Muted reds, oranges, greens, and blues are incorporated to balance the vibrant yellow case. The iconic G-SHOCK “Triple Graph” display surrounds are in yellow, seamlessly tying the dial and case colors together.

The watch arrives in G-SHOCK’s distinctive round tin packaging, resembling a 3-D interpretation of the “Subtract” album. Nestled inside, a personal note from none other than John Mayer adds a unique touch.

The G-SHOCK Ref. 6900 – Subtract by Ed Sheeran stands out as an unprecedented release, continuing the legacy of past G-SHOCK collaborations, and we are excited to see Ed’s contribution to this iconic line.

The G-SHOCK Ref. 6900 – Subtract by Ed Sheeran is available now to buy for US$185.
