Honda EV Outlier Concept Reveals a Radical Vision for Electric Motorcycles

Honda EV Outlier Concept electric motorcycle unveiled at Japan Mobility Show 2025

Yes, yes. Honda has its first electric motorcycle. But clearly, the WN7 isn’t what Honda has in mind for electric motorcycles. Back at the Japan Mobility Show 2025, in November, Honda revealed its vision for the future of electric motorcycles with an electric two-wheeler concept called EV Outlier Concept.

The EV Outlier Concept is unlike any electric motorcycle the world has seen. It kinda has that Akira motorcycle energy going on. Anyhoo, the EV Outlier Concept goes beyond simply replacing combustion engines with an electric motor and batteries; it redefines what a motorcycle can be in the electrified era.

Honda calls it an “outlier,” which already tells you this thing is not interested in following any existing motorcycle rulebook. Led by Yuya Tsutsumi, Large Project Leader and professional rule-breaker for this project, the EV Outlier Concept was developed end-to-end as a clean-sheet rethink. Not an engine swap. Not a quiet version of an existing bike. A full reset.

Design-wise, the EV Outlier Concept is kinda an evolution of the WN7, which results in three new key elements: Sliding, Ecstasy, and Low. Sliding is all about smooth, silent motion, where acceleration, deceleration, and cornering flow together without mechanical drama. Ecstasy is the instant torque punch that electric drivetrains do so well, delivering a direct, almost visceral connection between rider and machine. Low refers to the unusually low seating position and visual mass, giving the rider a ground-hugging perspective that amplifies speed and control.

The seating itself is closer to a bucket seat than a traditional motorcycle saddle, designed to absorb acceleration forces and encourage cornering with hip movement. Honda even bulked up the front volume to emphasize that low, aggressive stance. This thing does not want to look polite.

Tech details double down on the future vibe. Camera-based mirrors replace traditional ones. A wide, slim digital display shows real-time lean angles and power output, reinforcing the idea that riding this thing is as much about feedback as it is about motion. The overall form breaks every known proportion rule from combustion-era motorcycles, and Honda admits that was the hardest part.

The EV Outlier Concept made its world debut at the Japan Mobility Show 2025, and it did exactly what a concept should do. It surprised people. It confused some. It made others grin uncontrollably. Honda is not showing a product roadmap here. It is showing intent.
