The World’s First Micro LED Watch Heralds In A New Era In Wearable Tech

KONKA APHAEA Micro LED Watch

China’s electronics maker most notable for its innovative TVs, KONKA, has revealed the world’s first micro LED watch, called APHAEA watch. It was a show of the potential of micro-pitch LED display and in this case, in the size that fits on a person’s wrist.

The KONKA APHAEA Micro LED Watch is outfitted with a P0.12AM-LTPS micro LED screen, which KONKA said reduces pixel pitch to just 0.12 mm. This results in pretty impressive screen resolution of 400 x 400. The micro LED chips are mere 30 micrometer in size.

According to a report, the display is produced on a LTPS backplane which top a brightness of 1,500 nits and touts a color gamut of 147% DCI-P3. More impressively, the KONKA APHAEA Micro LED Watch has a battery life of up to 35 days.

The KONKA APHAEA Watch may be just a watch, but there is no doubt that this new display technology will eventually arrive to smartwatch and that is something to look forward to.
