Lofree Is Launching A Mechanical Keyboard Is As Thin As MacBook Air

Lofree Edge Ultra Low Profile Mechanical Keyboard

The mechanical keyboard offers a tactile typing experience like no other. But let’s face it, it has a look that screams “I am PC’s best friend!” So, yeah, they are not exactly for Mac users who demand the same cool Apple aesthetics. This is where the Lofree Edge Ultra Low Profile Mechanical Keyboard comes.

Just to be clear, the Lofree Edge Ultra Low Profile Mechanical Keyboard is not the first low-profile mechanical keyboard; there are others. It is here to offer users another alternative with a different kind of look, one that does not scream “I am PCs’ best friend!”

For starter, it has a sleek design with a carbon fiber and Magnesium alloy construction and it is as thin as 5.4 mm at its thinnest end. Lofree claims that this little guy is as thin as a MacBook Air. Though, it is not clear which year of MacBook Air it is comparing it to. It is still pretty ridiculous thin anyways. And it is lightweight too, tipping the scales at 485g (about 1.1 lbs).

Other highlights include backlit keys, Kailh POM Switch 2.0, PBT keycaps, PCB-gasket mount, customizable keymap and macro, a 2,000 mAh rechargeable battery, Bluetooth or wired connectivity via USB-C, and compatibility with both Mac and Windows with both Mac and Windows layout.

The Kailh POM Switch 2.0 – which is a component that allows for such thinnest – is just 9.8 mm while offering a decent 2.4 mm of travel. Lofree said in wired mode, the keyboard offers a 1,000 Hz polling rate, thus making latency hardly noticeable and therefore perfect for gaming too.

Lofree will be taking to Kickstarter to launch the Lofree Edge Ultra Low Profile Mechanical Keyboard where you will be able to secure a unit at up to 48% discount, for US$128 or more. Meanwhile, you may pick up more details as well as sign up to be notified when the campaign goes live on Kickstarter HERE.
