For fans of Neon Genesis Evangelion who type a lot, MelGeek has two new Evangelion-themed keyboards for you. Unlike its previous collaboration, the MADE68 ULTRA+ EVA Unit-01 Limited Edition, these new EVA-themed keyboards are not inspired primarily by the giant mecha. Instead, MelGeek has given its Centauri magnetic gaming keyboards the character treatment. There is the MelGeek x Evangelion Centauri 80 Rei Edition and the MelGeek x Evangelion Centauri 60 Asuka Edition.
Well, it looks like choosing between Rei and Asuka now also means choosing how much keyboard you want. Decisions, decisions, decisions. But I am glad Shinji is not part of it. Maybe he will be later. Then again, even if he did appear in the lineup, the decision would still be between Rei and Asuka. That kid whines too much to get any love.
The officially licensed MelGeek x Evangelion Centauri 80 Rei Edition adopts Rei’s pale blue-gray and white palette, with an EVA-00 insignia, N2 Missile motif, identity plate, and the quote “You won’t die. I will protect you” engraved underneath. It uses an 80% layout with a function row and arrow keys, all housed in a 1.8 kg (4 lbs) CNC aluminum body.
Rei also gets the fancy equipment: a cool-silver rotary knob and a 1.78-inch, 325 PPI OLED touchscreen with a 60 Hz refresh rate and 1 ms touch response. It can display JPG, PNG, and GIF files, switch profiles, and adjust Rapid Trigger, lighting, and macros. Rei’s portrait comes preloaded, although replacing it feels slightly disrespectful.
The Centauri 60 Asuka Edition is smaller, louder, and dressed in EVA-02 red, black, and warning yellow. Its 1.32 kg (2.9 lbs) aluminum chassis carries an EVA-02 insignia, Progressive Knife motif, Asuka identity plate, rose-gold rotary knob, and her characteristically modest declaration: “I can save the human race all by myself.” The 60% layout drops the function row but retains dedicated arrow keys.
Both keyboards use Flip King of Magnetic White Hall Effect switches, adjustable 0.2–4 mm actuation, 0.01 mm Rapid Trigger, an 8,000 Hz polling rate, six-MCU architecture, a leaf-spring gasket mount, five-layer acoustic dampening, and customizable RGB lighting. Settings are handled through the browser-based MelGeek Hive configurator and stored onboard, with Windows, macOS, and Linux compatibility.
Each individually serialized keyboard includes seven extra keycaps, a USB-C cable, switch puller, protective case, collector materials, exclusive packaging, and a two-year warranty.
The Asuka Edition costs US$359, while the larger, screen-equipped Rei Edition has an asking price of US$459. Both are limited production runs with no restock planned. Choose your pilot before synchronization becomes impossible.
