The Mercedes-Benz C-Class is one of those cars you usually walk past without a second thought because it is everywhere. But this one is different. This one will make you stop and look twice because it is electric—and its design even hints at the bold direction previewed by the Mercedes-Benz Vision Iconic show car, while staying rooted in reality. So, yes, my friends, the C-Class has gone electric. ⚡
Meet the all-new electric C-Class, officially the C-Class with EQ Technology, and it is Mercedes doing something it probably should have done earlier: giving one of its most recognizable sedans a proper battery-electric future instead of parking EV duty under a separate nameplate.
Underneath, this is not a converted petrol car pretending to be modern. It rides on the new MB.EA platform, runs an 800-volt architecture and supports ultra-fast DC charging that can add serious range in the time it takes to argue about whether EVs still need fake grille patterns (it does not, IMHO).
Speaking of range, Mercedes is targeting up to around 750 km (or 466 miles) (WLTP), depending on the version. That is comfortably “drive across countries/states without anxiety” territory, not just “drive across town and start hunting chargers.”
The launch version, the C 400 4MATIC with EQ Technology, brings dual-motor all-wheel drive into the picture. Translation: this is not your uncle’s calm commuter C-Class. It still does quiet luxury very well—but now with the kind of instant shove only electric motors deliver.
Design-wise, Mercedes did not go full spaceship. Instead, it kept the familiar C-Class proportions and added just enough futuristic touches: illuminated star graphics front and rear, a smoother nose, and lighting signatures that make it obvious this sedan plugs in instead of filling up. In short, it still has the C’s spirit.
Inside, the cabin leans heavily into the digital side of modern Mercedes life, with the latest MBUX experience and a screen layout that looks ready to run your calendar, your navigation, and possibly your mood. Comfort remains the brief here. This is still a C-Class, after all.
So yes—the electric era has officially reached one of Mercedes-Benz’s most recognizable nameplates. And unlike some earlier EQ experiments, this one feels less like a side quest and more like the main storyline. ⚡🚘
The first version, the C 400 4MATIC with EQ Technology, is expected to reach showrooms in the first half of 2027 in major markets like the U.S., with other variants following later. Some earlier deliveries in Europe could begin late 2026, depending on rollout timing. However, those are not official words. They are industry expectations based on early reporting and rollout patterns.
As for the price. No official words also. Some sources reckon it will start around US$67,000 for the C 400 MATIC. But that’s purely speculation.
