when i first had a glimpse of the Lenovo IdeaPad, frankly, i wasn’t impressed by its toy like outlook. which is enough to stop me from going beyond its look, then Lenovo announced another tablet that takes on its most successful laptop brand – the ThinkPad. i readied myself to check it out and so here it is, freshly announced last week is the first ThinkPad branded tablet, aptly dubbed the ThinkPad tablet.

like the IdeaPad K1, the ThinkPad tablet runs on Google’s Android 3.1 Operating System aka Honeycomb. processing power is from a Tegra 2 dual-core 1-GHz processor, backed by a generous 1-GB of RAM. it has a 1280 x 800 resolution IPS display overlaid with Gorilla Glass, dual cameras, aGPS and has a host of connectivity that includes mini HDMI out, a 3-in-1 card reader, micro USB 2.0 port, a SIM card slot, along with the usual Bluetooh and WiFi connectivity. on the aesthetic end, the ThinkPad tablet continues the heritage of business-orientated look as found on its laptops – which happens to be my cup of Earl Gray. sweet.

the Lenovo will start accepting pre-orders on the second day of next month, with shipment to be expected on the same month. price wise, expect to fork out $479 for the 16-GB WiFi-only model with option to add the digitizer pen for an additional $30. $589 will get you the 32-GB WiFi-only model that comes packaged with the digitizer pen. as for the 3G model, it’s in the pipeline but no word the prices or availability.
