Nintendo Announced Alarmo, A Motion Sensor-equipped Interactive Alarm Clock

Nintendo Sound Clock: Alarmo

Well, what do you know? Nintendo has just surprised everyone with the announcement of a completely non-game-related piece of hardware: an alarm clock. Make no mistake, the Nintendo Sound Clock: Alarmo, as it is called, is no mundane corporate gift-style Nintendo merch. It’s an interactive alarm clock that is as much fun as its consoles and video games.

If you are tired of waking up to the same old, boring alarm tones, the new Nintendo Sound Clock: Alarmo will have you covered. This isn’t your typical “hit snooze five times” situation. It lets you start your day with the sounds of the Mushroom Kingdom, Hyrule, or even the watery chaos of Splatoon 3.

And it’s not just about noise either. Thanks to its motion sensor tech, you can swat at your alarm to snooze, or actually get out of bed to stop it. Want to wake up slowly with a bit of Zelda, or need something a bit more urgent like Pikmin chaos? Choose from 35 immersive scenes across five Nintendo titles.

Plus, you can track your sleep movements, making it the most fun you’ll ever have losing sleep. Speaking of sleep, it can coax you to sleep with Sleepy Sounds themed to your chosen scene. And did we mention it also has a cool hourly chime—also based on the chosen theme?

The star feature is of course the alarm. If the alarm goes off and you do nothing except toss and turn on the bed, Alarmo senses your movement and interjects the alarm with sound effects. If you stay in bed too long, the alarm will get more intense, and “someone more persuasive” will visit you (on the clock’s screen, that is). And when finally get up, you will be rewarded with a brief victory fanfare. Well done!

The device features built-in Wi-Fi to download additional like Mario Kart 8 Deluxe and Animal Crossing: New Horizons in free updates as they become available.

For just US$99.99, you can start ruining your mornings in the best way possible. Pre-orders are available now on My Nintendo Store for Switch Online members. Unfortunately, though, for now, it is only available to US and Canadian customers only.
