Ever wanted to be a Pokémon Trainer, but realized your battle skills are better suited to assembling furniture? Well, here’s your chance to channel your inner Professor Oak without breaking a sweat. The MEGA Pokémon Kanto Region Pokédex Building Kit lets you build your very own Pokédex, complete with all the bells and whistles, minus the actual Professor Oak constantly reminding you that you can’t ride your bike indoors.
It joins MEGA’s growing portfolio of Pokémon sets and it is a fitting addition to the brick-built MEGA Pokémon monsters because, well, it’s a Pokédex that keeps track of the Pokémon you’ve seen and caught. Granted, it is not an actual computer but it will let you simulate such a scenario. So, yeah, this set is not just a built-and-display set.
With lenticular cards featuring Pikachu, Bulbasaur, Charmander, Squirtle, and Eevee, you can admire your favorite starters without having to frantically dig through tall grass. Plus, this baby lights up! Just press the light brick, and you’ve got an authentic-looking Pokédex that might just fool a wild Rattata into thinking you’re ready for battle.
The set packs a modest 322 pieces and again, MEGA never bothered with providing the completed model dimensions. I guess it is not important. But I believe it is a 1:1 scale. I could be wrong. But anyways, it is still super cool!
Perfect for collectors and adult builders who prefer their nostalgia served brick-by-brick, it’s now available for US$35—no Poké Balls required.
