What you see here is the Porsche x Xbox 75th Anniversary collection. Obviously, it is not Xbox that is 75 years old; it is the German marque that is celebrating its 75th year with a series of events and products, and the Porsche x Xbox 75th Anniversary collection is one of the events/products. Actually, I won’t call it a product because the collection is not quite for sale. But more on this in a bit.
Since Porsche is present in many video games, including Xbox’s biggest racing game Forza franchise, Porsche decided that it is fitting to bring its racing liveries and applied them on the Xbox Series X console and accompanying controllers. The Xbox 75th Anniversary collection comprises six limited-edition console designs which will be officially unveiled at major auto and gaming events around the world this summer.
The six designs are as follows:
- Porsche 911 GT1 won 24 Hours of Le Mans in 1998.
- Porsche Hippie was a race car unlike any other. It was adorned in deep blue and bright green “hippie” colors.
- Porsche Pink Pig was a pink race car. Pink? Yes. Covered in butcher-style cuts. It’s a race livery that gained cult status.
- Porsche Salzburg gave Porsche its very first overall win at Le Mans.
- Porsche Racing Edition is often referred to as the white whale (or Moby Dick) because of its huge tail.
- Porsche 75th is the current race livery on the 963.
Now, I know the consoles with those liveries are hard to resist. But here’s the kicker: they are not available to buy at retail stores.
