Redmi has released the K100 Pro series in China, comprising the Redmi K100 Pro and the larger, louder, and considerably more excessive Redmi K100 Pro Max. Both are flagship Android phones with gaming ambitions, and one even lets you draw on its back using light. More on that wonderfully unnecessary feature shortly.
The Redmi K100 Pro [CH] uses a 6.59-inch OLED display with a 2,510 × 1,156 resolution and 185 Hz refresh rate. It is powered by the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 V Series alongside Redmi’s D2 gaming graphics chip, while a 5,200 mm² cooling system helps prevent enthusiastic gaming sessions from becoming hand warmers.
Its 8,580 mAh battery supports 100 W wired and 50 W wireless charging, plus 27 W wired and 22.5 W wireless reverse charging. Cameras comprise a 200 MP OIS main shooter, 50 MP 2.5x telephoto, and 8 MP ultrawide. The K100 Pro also benefits from Bose-tuned dual stereo speakers.
Now for the fun part. The K100 Pro is offered in a Glowing Firefly finish containing photoluminescent material beneath its glass back. It absorbs light during the day and glows in darkness. Shine a flashlight, laser pointer, or light-painting pen over it, and you can draw temporary pictures, write messages, or sign the phone before the glow fades. Phone cases have officially become optional sketchbooks.
The Redmi K100 Pro Max [CH] upgrades to a Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5, a 6.9-inch 185 Hz OLED display, and a 6,300 mm² cooling system. Its enormous 9,070 mAh battery keeps the same charging and reverse-charging capabilities.
Photography gets serious with a 200 MP OIS main camera, 50 MP 5x periscope telephoto, and 50 MP ultrawide. Like its predecessors, the K100 Pro Max upgrades the Bose-tuned audio to a 2.1-channel system with two full-range drivers and a dedicated woofer. Rounding up the highlights of this particular model is a floating ambient-light ring that provides additional gaming-room credentials
Both models run HyperOS 3 and include ultrasonic fingerprint recognition and heavy-duty water resistance. Current Chinese launch pricing starts at 3,699 yuan [CH] (about US$550) for the K100 Pro and 4,199 yuan [CH] (around US$623) for the Pro Max. International availability remains unannounced. Based on Xiaomi/Redmi’s practice, the duo will likely turn up in the global market as Poco devices.
