Samsung is going all out to get consumers acquainted with its new laptop, the Galaxy Book6. After introducing the new Galaxy Book earlier this year and following up with a business version a few months later, the Korean electronics giant now wants budget-conscious consumers to experience the Galaxy Book6 with the new Samsung 14-inch Galaxy Book6.
Starting at just US$799, the new 14-inch Galaxy Book6 features the latest Intel Core 3 or Core 5 Series 3 processor, up to 25 hours of battery life, and Galaxy AI-enabled features.
Samsung positions it as an everyday machine for browsing the web, creating documents, attending video calls, multitasking, and streaming content. Integrated Intel graphics handle visual duties, while an Intel NPU delivering up to 15 TOPS provides the muscle for supported AI features. In other words, it is built for the things most people actually do on a laptop rather than rendering the next Pixar movie during lunch.
The 14-inch display is a 1,920 x 1,200-pixel WUXGA LCD panel with a 16:10 aspect ratio, 350 nits of brightness, and an anti-reflective treatment. That taller screen provides more vertical room for documents, websites, and multitasking.
The savings do reveal themselves in a couple of places. This is an LCD rather than one of Samsung’s glorious AMOLED panels, and the keyboard is not backlit. You will therefore have to locate the keys the old-fashioned way when working in the dark. At least the Pro keyboard is accompanied by a proper clickpad. I know. It’s horrific. But something gotta give if you trim the price.
Helping the laptop stay useful away from an outlet is a 61.2 Wh battery promising up to 25 hours of use. When the battery eventually cries for power, the included 45 W USB-C adapter can restore approximately 33% of its charge in 30 minutes. That should be enough to get through a few more emails, several browser tabs, and one meeting that could have been an email.
The Galaxy Book6 measures 313 x 221 x 15.7 mm (12.32 x 8.70 x 0.62 in) and weighs 1.35 kg (2.98 lbs). It is available in classic Gray and a new Violet Silver finish, the latter marking the color’s first appearance on a Galaxy Book.
For video calls, there is a 2 MP 1080p camera, supported by dual-array microphones and two 2 W stereo speakers with Dolby Atmos. Connectivity includes two equally capable USB-C ports, one USB-A port, HDMI 1.4 with support for 4K output at 30 Hz, and a 3.5 mm headphone/microphone jack. Wi-Fi 6E and Bluetooth 5.4 handle wireless connections. No dongle treasure hunt is required for the basics.
Galaxy AI contributes AI Select for identifying onscreen content, AI Cut Out for removing image backgrounds, and Note Assist for summarizing notes and surfacing key information. Meanwhile, Quick Share, Storage Share, Multi Control, Second Screen, Nearby Devices, and Link to Windows help it play nicely with compatible Galaxy phones and tablets.
The Samsung 14-inch Galaxy Book6 runs Windows 11 Home or Windows 11 Pro and is available with 8 GB or 16 GB of LPDDR5X memory and 256 GB, 512 GB, or 1 TB of PCIe SSD storage. It is available in select markets with prices starting at US$799. Additional markets will follow, though Samsung has not provided a broader release schedule.
We found the Core 5 model listed on the U.K. website for £799 and on the Samsung Canada website for 1,199.99 Canadian money. Nothing on the U.S. website yet.
