If Tizen OS has been the one thing that has put you off in buying a Samsung Galaxy Watch, then Samsung Galaxy Watch4 may be good news as it is the first smartwatch to feature the new Wear OS Powered by Samsung, built jointly with Google.
While so, Samsung won’t let it get away with pure Wear OS; it is overlaid with One UI Watch UI. Aesthetically, the Samsung Galaxy Watch4 smartwatch is sleeker too, IMHO.
Highlights include BioActive Sensor, a 3-in-1 sensor that is responsible for three health sensors: Optical Heart Rate, Electrical Heart, and Bioelectrical Impedance Analysis, for monitoring of blood pressure, detect an AFib irregular headgear, measure blood oxygen level, and calculate the user’s body composition.
The hardware is powered by a 5 nm process chip that claims to be 20% faster in processing power and has 50% more RAM, and a GPU that is 10x faster than the predecessor. Internal memory is a beefy 16 GB.
The dial face is a 450 x 450 pixels circular touch display. In spite of a more powerful processor and high-resolution screen, Galaxy Watch4 still claims up to 40 hours of battery life.
The Samsung Galaxy Watch4 is available in 40 mm and 44 mm case sizes while the Classic is offered in 42 mm and 46 mm. Pre-order is happening now. Prices for Samsung Galaxy Watch4 start at US$249.99 for the Bluetooth versions and US$299.99 for LTE models.
The Samsung Galaxy Watch4 Classic has a starting price of US$349.99 for the BT versions and US$399.99 for the LTE models.
