This Is BB-9E, The Evil Twin Of BB-8 And You’ll Have Full Control Over It

Star Wars BB-9E App-enabled Droid by Sphero

Have you heard? There will be a new droid star in the upcoming 8th Star Wars movie, Star Wars: The Last Jedi and it is called BB-9E. While it may not be as memorable as R2-D2 and C-3PO, the BB-8 from the last Star Wars flick was adorable in its own right and it appears that this next droid is here to pick up where BB-8 has left off. However, do not expect this droid to be a compassionate droid like its immediate forebear. It is anything but. If its colorway did not reveal any clue of the BB-9E’s allegiance, then the somewhat awkward flat head and glowing red eye should.

So, yes, this gray and black ball droid, which shares the same rolling torso and balancing head as the BB-8, is the evil twin of the star of the previous instalment. Anywho, it is no surprise that Sphero, the maker of app-enabled toys, have also introduced an app-enabled evil astromech droid of the First Order which you can play with. Here’s the gist of Sphero BB-9E App-Enabled Droid:

“BB-9E specializes in keeping starships and machinery fully operational with its many features. Keep BB-9E sharp with the augmented reality Droid Trainer and explore holographic simulations from the Star Wars™ galaxy. Watch BB-9E interact with other Star Wars App-Enabled Droids by Sphero, and view films from the Star Wars saga with BB-9E reacting by your side.”

As with the BB-9, you can control BB-9E via your smartphone, or you can choose to watch it patrol on its own, safeguarding your fort. The Star Wars BB-9E App-enabled Droid by Sphero is available on Sphero’s website, priced at $149.99.

On a related news, Sphero has also unveiled a Sphero-touched remote control version of the iconic astromech droid, R2-D2, featuring authentic movement, holographic simulation, signature front and rear LEDs, and integrated speaker with authentic sound effects. The R2-D2 App-Enabled Droid by Sphero retails for a tad pricier $179.99.
