Earlier this year, we learned that a stylized Predaking will be the next Adamas Machina figure following the AMT-01 Rodimus Prime. Fast forward to August 6, and we have the full deets—and boy, it’s an exciting one. Well, mostly, apart from the size, but more on that in a bit.
Part of Takara Tomy’s T-SPARK hobby label, the Adamas Machina AMT-02 Predaking [JP] is a high-end collectible figure featuring premium design and materials, including die-cast parts. Die-cast can be found throughout the figure, including the joints, not just for durability but also for that premium, weighted feel. To further that “luxe” touch, nearly the entire figure is painted, as a premium figure should be. Takara Tomy says the AMT-02 has the highest number of paint applications in Transformers history.
It’s not toon-accurate, which may not float everyone’s boat, but that’s exactly what makes this line so alluring. It presents itself as a mecha should. I know it sounds contradictory coming from someone who holds the G1 aesthetic so dear, but seriously—just look at that beast. It’s stunning.
Even better, it’s not just one huge (OK, maybe not so huge) figure. It includes all five Predacons, each a triple changer, meaning each member can transform between beast mode, robot mode, and combine mode. For this release, the designers worked backwards, starting from the combiner to achieve what you see today.
In addition to premium design and materials, this highly stylized G1-era combiner also boasts excellent posability, with a waist bend, posable fingers and toes, and extendable shoulders for a high degree of articulation. Weapons include the Sonic Blade, Photo Sabel, and X-ray Laser Canon, all of which can be mounted on the combiner when not in use.
Pre-orders for the Adamas Machina AMT-02 Predaking are open now, with delivery slated for March 2026. The price in Japan is 59,400 yen [JP] (tax included), or about US$402 at the current rate.
