Goggler Creates Eco-conscious Shoes With Materials That Would Otherwise End Up At Landfills

The Pacific All-day Shoe by Loafs

There are shoes. There are stylish shoes, and then there is this: The Pacific All-day Shoe by Loafs. What makes the The Pacific stands out is not just the obvious style. It’s also the materials each pair is made from that makes it the shoe for now and the future.

Created by Goggler Aaron Roubitchek, The Pacific is made from materials like algae-based foam, chrome-free recycled leather trimmings and tree-based linings – all of which, if not recycled and utilized, will end up piling up in landfill. Here are more of what The Pacific is about:

“Substitutions favoring sustainability include water-based assembly cement, chromium-free recycled leather, GRS-certified 100% recycled polyester, and organic cotton shoelaces without wax. Beyond the shoe itself, all packaging for The Pacific is made from 100% recycled paper and soybean ink printing.”

It is obvious the intention is good. Lets not to kid ourselves, though. We can’t be 100 percent eco-conscious when manufacturing anything. But products like The Pacific All-day Shoe is a promising start to a sustainable future. Or should I say, a slightly more sustainable future. Baby steps. Baby steps, my friends.

Anywho, the New York-based shoe company designs shoes in line with the brand’s passion for cleaning up the ocean and protecting our little blue marble, and as such, for each pair of The Pacific sold, Loafs will donate to clean up the Great Pacific Garbage Patch.

If you are down, you can find The Pacific All-day Shoe by Loafs on Kickstarter where you can pre-order a pair for $99. The campaign has already met its funding goal and if all goes according to Loafs’ plan, delivery should happen sometime in January 2020.
