Remember the Metavertu 2, Vertu’s 2023 luxury Web3 smartphone? It appears to have received a shiny new name—or at least an expanded one—and boarded the AI hype train as the Metavertu Max.
The effort feels somewhat half-hearted. Beneath the newly applied “Web3 Dual-AI Brain” and “Second Brain” buzzwords lies distinctly familiar hardware: a Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 processor, 12 GB of RAM, up to 1 TB of internal storage, a 6.78-inch 1.5K OLED display, a 5,100 mAh battery, and a 50 + 50 + 8 MP camera array. Even Vertu’s own website URL still files the Max under /metavertu-2/—the digital equivalent of forgetting to peel off the old name tag.
On the software front, the AI promises a personal “second brain” that learns your habits, alongside a dedicated single-button AI Agent service. It retains all the Web3 features from its previous life: encrypted communications, an isolated MPC hardware wallet, a triple-system privacy architecture, and support for up to four simultaneous WhatsApp accounts—a vital necessity when one wealthy version of yourself simply isn’t enough.
Ultimately, the true updates lie in the branding and bespoke finishes, which include aerospace-grade carbon fiber, alligator leather, 18K gold, and embedded diamonds.
Prices currently start at US$2,999, while the range-topping Himalaya Alligator Diamond edition tops out at a staggering US$55,600. The internals may be anchored in 2023, but thankfully for Vertu, the price tag remains well ahead of its time.
