So, you think the new heavily updated Mercedes-Benz S-Class isn’t luxe enough for you? Well, fret not, my very, very, very rich friend, because Mercedes-Maybach has you covered. Meet the new Mercedes-Maybach S-Class. That’s right. Somehow, Mercedes-Benz’s luxury brand has found another level of luxe for the S-Class. It is very much like seeing someone add gold leaf to a gold bar. It’s beyond the understanding of mere mortals like me.
The 2027 Mercedes-Maybach S-Class arrives as the most extensively updated version in the model’s history, with refinements touching just about every corner of the flagship limousine. The goal wasn’t to reinvent Maybach. It was to make an already serene experience even more effortless.
Up front, the signature Maybach grille grows 20 percent larger and now features an illuminated surround. For the first time, the Maybach script within the grille also lights up, while selected markets even get illuminated hood ornaments and glowing C-pillar emblems. If subtlety was on the guest list, it quietly left through the back door.
Inside is where the real magic happens. The new MB.OS makes its Maybach debut alongside the latest MBUX Superscreen, complete with exclusive Maybach graphics and an AI-powered virtual assistant backed by ChatGPT-4o, Google Gemini, and Microsoft Bing. Whether your chauffeur is driving or you’re behind the wheel yourself, the cabin feels more like a high-end lounge than the inside of a car.
Rear-seat passengers continue to receive the royal treatment. Executive seats, automatic comfort doors, dual 13.1-inch entertainment displays, a refrigerated compartment, and silver-plated Robbe & Berking champagne flutes all remain part of the experience. Mercedes-Maybach has also introduced its first leather-free interior, combining ARTICO upholstery with a premium textile called Mirville, proving that sustainability and extravagance can indeed share the same limousine.
Under the hood, Mercedes-Maybach has modernized its powertrain lineup with new electrified six- and eight-cylinder engines. The flagship S 680 now packs an electrified V8 producing up to 450 kW plus a 17 kW integrated starter generator, delivering performance comparable to the outgoing V12. Speaking of which, fans of twelve-cylinder motoring can breathe easy because selected markets will continue to offer the legendary V12.
Buyers who enjoy making their cars truly one of one will also appreciate the expanded MANUFAKTUR program. With more than 150 exterior paint colors, over 400 interior colors, and the Made to Measure service, the only real limitation may be your imagination—and perhaps your bank account.
Production is already underway at Mercedes-Benz’s Factory 56 in Sindelfingen, Germany, where every Mercedes-Maybach S-Class continues to be assembled with the meticulous craftsmanship expected of the brand.
The new Mercedes-Maybach S-Class is now available to order in Germany, with pricing starting from €216,434.23 [DE]. In the U.S., it is currently listed under Mercedes-Benz’s Future Vehicles, with the company saying the 2027 Mercedes-Maybach S-Class Sedan will arrive later this year. U.S. pricing has yet to be announced.
