Reading in bed is lovely until you have to take a hand out from under the blanket to turn a page. A small inconvenience, yes, but one that Amazon now has an official accessory to address. Its new Kindle family arrives with a Bluetooth page-turn remote. Folks, we have reached remote-controlled reading.
The US$34.99 Kindle Click also works with Kindle models from 2024 onward, so existing owners can join in without replacing their reader.
There are good reasons to look at the new hardware, though. All three lines get thinner designs and flush-front screens. Amazon’s “edge-to-edge color” refers to the device’s exterior color extending across the front, not every Kindle suddenly displaying colorful comics.
Small Kindle, Bigger Choices
The entry-level Kindle has a 6-inch screen, 16GB of storage, up to six weeks of battery life, and 30% faster book opening. It starts at US$149.99. An aluminum-backed, 32 GB version costs US$189.99.
Paperwhite starts at US$199.99, bringing waterproofing, adjustable warm lighting, improved contrast, and up to 12 weeks between charges. Its US$249.99 Signature Edition adds aluminum backing, 32GB, automatic light adjustment, double-tap page turning, and pogo-pin dock charging.
Colorsoft is where the pages actually get color. Starting at US$289.99, it uses a revised display system for brighter, clearer color. Its US$319.99 Signature Edition gets the same premium extras.
Buttons Are an Accessory Now
For Signature buyers, a US$79.99 magnetic Page-Turn Cover supplies physical buttons, while a US$59.99 dock keeps the reader upright and charged. Kids versions start at US$179.99, including a cover and one year of Kids+.
The basic Kindle models are available now, with Paperwhite and Colorsoft preorders rolling out by region, including the U.S.
The remote is still the dangerous part. “One more chapter” was already a problem before turning the page required even less effort.
