Apple MacBook Air M5 Arrives With 512GB Base Storage, Wi-Fi 7, and Apple Intelligence

Apple MacBook Air with M5 Chip

Not surprisingly, the MacBook Air has also gotten the love of the new M5 chip announced last year. Though I cannot help but notice that Apple’s marketing team has used at least one image from the MacBook Air M4 marketing materials for the M5. Apple, that’s kind of lazy.

Anyhoo, the new Air now has double the starting storage and boasts improved connectivity and expanded AI capabilities—all while retaining its thin and light aluminum design. For those who don’t already know, the M5 silicon features a faster CPU and a next-generation GPU with a Neural Accelerator in each core, enabling the MacBook Air to handle a variety of workflows, from creative projects to complex AI tasks.

Starting storage is now 512 GB with faster SSD technology, and it is configurable up to 4 TB. Then there’s Apple’s N1 wireless chip that brings Wi-Fi 7 and Bluetooth 6 to the table.

Other highlights include a Liquid Retina display, a 12 MP Center Stage camera, up to 18 hours of battery life, an immersive sound system with Spatial Audio, and two Thunderbolt 4 ports with support for up to two external displays. It runs on macOS Tahoe with Apple Intelligence built in out of the box.

The new MacBook Air with M5 is available in 13-inch and 15-inch models, in a choice of colors including sky blue, midnight, starlight, and silver. It will be available for pre-order starting March 4, 2026, with availability beginning March 11, 2026.

The 13-inch MacBook Air with M5 starts at US$1,099, while the 15-inch MacBook Air with M5 starts at US$1,299.
