DeLorean DMC-12, The Car Made Famous By Back To The Future, is Joining Forza Horizon 5

DeLorean DMC-12 is Joining Forza Horizon 5

DeLorean DMC-12. The darling of the automotive industry of the 80s. The car that became the icon of the 80s – notwithstanding its lackluster performance. It is a car that will never make any land speed record, let alone coming out top on the grid. But here it is, joining the fifth installment of one of the world’s most popular simulation racing games of our time, Forza Horizon 5.

Oh, look, it actually made 88 mph!

The DeLorean DMC-12 was not just popular. It has reached cult status. Thanks in part to its good looks, brought about by the combination of gull-wing doors, polished stainless body, and the sleek line that was way ahead of its time, and its appearance as the star vehicle of Robert Zemeckis’ sci-fi comedy trilogy, Back to the Future.

I would say that its cult status was achieved mainly due to BTTF which the car was heavily featured throughout the three films. Because of the movies, the DeLorean DMC-12 is also synonymous with a time machine. However, it won’t be pulling off time travels in the upcoming Forza Horizon 5.

It will make its appearance as a run-of-the-mill, but still great looking, DMC-12 in the game during the first week of the Festival Playlist.

Forza Horizon shared a gameplay clip on Twitter of the legendary ride in action. It is not clear how fast it will go in the virtual world, but at one point, it did hit 88 mph in the demo clip. And no, it did not time travel. Neither did it leave trails of fire on the ground.

The Forza Horizon 5 will be released on November 9 and sells for US$59.99 for Xbox One, Xbox Series X, Xbox, and Windows platforms.
