Well, this is unexpected. At SDCC, Hasbro surprised fans with one crossover nobody saw coming: G.I. Joe and Crystal Dynamics’ Tomb Raider. That’s right, my friends, Lara Croft and The Real American Hero have crossed paths, and it is called The G.I. Joe Classified Series Retro Cardback Collaborative Lara Croft Tomb Raider.
In this crossover, Lara Croft’s search for a mythic relic puts her on Cobra Island. So, what exactly happened in the jungles of this hostile island? Well, that’s for you to play out with this 6-inch (15 cm) scale figure. Action figure Lara Croft boasts multiple points of articulation, allowing her to pull off her signature moves, though some poses may require additional support.
She is supplied with a boatload of accessories for her adventure through the notorious island, including two alternate hands, two climbing axes, a backpack, a grappling hook with handle and rope, a recurve bow and arrow, a quiver, the Dagger of Xian with sheath (yes, that’s the relic from Tomb Raider II!), dual weapon accessories, plus a removable bandolier.
The figure is based on the classic deco and design of the blockbuster video game franchise. I know what you are thinking. But no, this is not Lara Croft from the Core Design era, and so no low-polygon look with a Cybertruck-like geometric chest.
The figure comes on a blister-card package with design and character art inspired by the vintage A Real American Hero figure line, which is cool but also cruel because you either buy another one to take Lara Croft out of her plastic prison, or be torn over whether or not to remove her from the packaging.
The G.I. Joe Classified Series Retro Cardback Collaborative Lara Croft Tomb Raider will sell for US$44.99 when it drops on October 1, 2026. Unfortunately, it is marked as “Sold Out” on Hasbro Pulse, but thankfully, you can still secure a copy from Amazon.com—sold by the G.I. Joe Store on Amazon—at an even better price of US$42.99.
