Pixel Buds 2a Double Battery Life, Add Gemini, Still Stay Affordable

Google Pixel Buds 2a

Google has a new addition to its A-series lineup, and this time it’s for your ears. Meet the Pixel Buds 2a, the first A-series buds to pack Active Noise Cancellation. The Pixel Buds family has been steadily evolving since the first model dropped in 2017, and the 2a shows just how far things have come—shrinking size, boosting brains, and cranking up the sound, all without cranking up the price.

The 2a is smaller and lighter than the original Pixel Buds A-series, borrowing some design cues from the Pixel Buds Pro 2. You get a twist-to-lock stabilizer, four eartip sizes, and an IP54 rating so sweat and rain won’t ruin your playlist. Available in Iris and Hazel, they’re meant to complement your Pixel devices—or just your mood.

Inside is the Tensor A1 chip, which not only powers ANC with Silent Seal 1.5 but also drives better sound. A custom driver and new high-frequency chamber deliver richer audio, while mesh covers and Google AI keep your calls sounding clear. Battery life has doubled over the first-gen A-series: up to 7 hours with ANC on, 20 hours with the case, plus—for the first time—a replaceable case battery.

And of course, Gemini is baked in. Summon it hands-free to get directions, summarize texts, or, yes, even ask for coffee recs mid-jog.

Pixel Buds 2a arrive October 9 and are available for pre-order now at US$129.
