The handheld gimbal camera has evolved. From a single camera unit, it evolved into one with dual cameras, and it can now even fly, if you want it to. I thought that would be it. I couldn’t have been more wrong.
Enter the Hohem Eyepic 2-in-1 Pocket Gimbal Camera. This package marries a handheld gimbal camera with an Insta360 GO 2-like wearable action camera. In other words, the camera can abandon the gimbal and continue filming without it. Independence comes early in the camera world.
When attached, the camera benefits from three-axis stabilization for smooth handheld footage. Detach it, and the tiny camera can be worn using the supplied hat clip or lanyard, or mounted onto a suitable magnetic metal surface. That should cover everything from cycling and travel to recording your dog’s daily inspection of the neighborhood.
Once the camera leaves, the gimbal retracts and locks itself. Its 2.51-inch touchscreen remains useful, displaying a 1080p live preview and allowing users to adjust camera settings from up to 10 meters (32.8 feet) away. The detachable camera is also waterproof to 10 meters, so it can follow you into the pool while the gimbal wisely stays behind.
Eyepic records full-resolution vertical 4K video at up to 2160 × 3840 and 60fps. Rotate the touchscreen with one hand, and the camera physically turns with it, switching between landscape and portrait capture. There is no cropping a horizontal image and pretending it was always destined for TikTok, Instagram Reels, or YouTube Shorts.
Hohem describes Eyepic as the world’s first 2-in-1 pocket gimbal camera. It certainly takes the modular approach seriously: one moment it is filming like a compact DJI Pocket-style camera, and the next it is clipped to your shirt, hat, or metal railing.
The Hohem Eyepic made its debut at IFA 2026 alongside the company’s new smartphone gimbals and Mic 2 wireless microphone. It remains a preview product, with final specifications, configurations, and pricing to be confirmed. Hohem expects it to reach the market in Q1 2027.
