Marshall Emberton III And Willen II Are Here To Redefine Portable Speakers

Marshall Emberton III and Willen II Portable Speakers

Looking to update your on-the-go entertainment setup? If so, you may want to hold out till August 26 because Marshall, the brand best known for its guitar amps, is launching not one but two portable speakers. The two new upcoming portable speakers and Emberton III and Willen II.

Emberton III

Tipped to have more bass than its predecessor, this newest iteration of the Emberton first launched in 2021 features Dynamic Loudness that adjusts the tonal balance as you change the volume, to deliver a rich and full sound. The Emberton III further features a Marshall-exclusive True Stereophonic that produces multidirectional sound for immersive 360° audio enjoyment.

The speaker produces stereo sound through a 2 10 W full-range driver, and 2 passive radiators—backed by 2x 38 W Class D amplifier, while Bluetooth 5.3 LE enables up to 100-meter (330 feet) free field range. Speaking of Bluetooth, it is Bluetooth LE Audio-ready which is a “future-proof tech” that will open up a new world of audio-sharing possibilities with Auracast.

The speaker inherits the Marshall’s iconic design language, boasting a rugged exterior with a guitar amp inspired grilled, and it is IP67 rated for dust- and waterproof allowing it up to 1 meter (3 feet) submersion in water for up to 30 minutes. Not that you should do that but it will come in handy when the going gets tough.

Like any good Bluetooth speaker, it comes with a built-in microphone for hands-free talking and it is outfitted with a rechargeable battery good for over 32 hours of playtime.

Willen II

The Willen II, Marshall’s smallest portable speaker, may be small but it packs a punch. Marshall said the larger frame on the next-gen Willen enhances bass performance, while improved drivers deliver balanced audio. With an IP67 rating, the speaker is both dustproof and waterproof, capable of being submerged up to 1 meter (3 feet) for 30 minutes.

It offers over 17 hours of playtime and features a rubber strap for easy attachment anywhere. The built-in microphone supports hands-free calls, and it’s also Bluetooth LE Audio-ready, ready to usher in the new era of audio sharing through Auracast.

Speaking of Bluetooth, it uses Bluetooth 5.3 LE that boasts a 100-meter (330 feet) range for wireless audio streaming, though I hardly think anyone would go that far—literally. Equipped with a 2” 10 W full-range driver, two passive radiators, and a 38W Class D amplifier, the Willen II is truly small but mighty.

Pricing and Availability

The new Marshall Emberton III and Willen II Portable Speakers are available for pre-order in a choice of black and brass, and cream, for US$169.99 and US$119.99, respectively.

No prize for guessing which color I am digging 😁
