Do you know that Masters of the Universe has Transformers-like characters? Known as the Rock People, or Comet Warriors, they disguise themselves as, well, space rocks. Stonedar was the leader, but like many MOTU toys, he did not appear in the original cartoon series. However, he was part of the toyline after the series had ended. Now, Mattel is bringing him back. Introducing the Masters of the Universe Origins Stonedar Action Figure.
Before we get on with this figure, here is a fun fact: Stonedar did appear in a cartoon, just not MOTU. He and his team showed up in She-Ra: Princess of Power Episode 44, “The Rock People.” So yes, technically, Stonedar is not in the original MOTU cartoon universe. Anyhoo, that does not stop him from making a comeback to complete your collection.
As for the “transforming” part of this toy, it comes with 11 attached armor pieces that fold to create his Rocky Comet form. Tell me that is not a Transformer. It kind of reminds us of the Optimus Prime (Protoform) toy from 2007 from years ago.
The figure comes with a light blaster, which he can wield to take down some bad folks. It can also serve as his radar antenna when plugged into the hex port on his torso in comet form. Stonedar stands 5.5 inches (about 14 cm) tall and, despite his rocky exterior, has 16 points of articulation.
Also included is a mini comic titled “Destroyer of Worlds,” all packed in collector-friendly packaging.
The Masters of the Universe Origins Stonedar Action Figure is available now for US$31.99.
