I have an unhealthy obsession with the overall tone of feature images, which is why sometimes you see a new product getting featured a little late—like the Nike x LEGO Collection Basketball you see. So, yeah, the ball with LEGO studs texture isn’t bouncing around solo.
The collection also includes another version with a regular texture. But instead of the usual burnt-orange you’d expect from a regular ol’ basketball, this one comes in striking yellow, broken up by the usual bold black channels.
In place of the classic Nike swoosh is a collaborative logo that merges the silhouette of the swoosh with the outline of a LEGO brick. The ball is also inscribed with details like a barcode and other markings, before rounding things off with both the Nike and LEGO logos standing side by side. Honestly, though, I doubt anyone who manages to get their hands on this is actually taking it out for a game of streetball.
Speaking of which, the US$40 collab basketball is already sold out. Sorry—that may or may not be down to me and my unhealthy obsession. I should probably see a doctor. Anyhoo, if you’re desperate to snag one, you’ll likely find it bouncing around the resale market, priced far less kindly than retail.
