New Satechi USB Hub Puts Card Reader And Ports At The Front Of iMac Pro

Satechi Aluminum Type-C Clamp Hub Pro for iMac

In achieving the awesome looks, Apple did make some sacrifices on the iMac in terms of usability. I mean, a bunch of ports on the back is not exactly user-friendly, does it? No. It will never be no matter how you look at it. Luckily for the new iMac Pro, its Thunderbolt 3 ports are USB-C which takes the guess work out of which side is the right side. Still, guessing where the ports are is a game which I equate to carnival scam. It’s often a hit and miss thing – until you crane your neck around to the back and have a visual. While we don’t expect Apple’s design team to break the tradition and bring those ports to the front, you are not without options.

One such option would be Satechi Aluminum Type-C Clamp Hub which will bring some of the ports to the front and integrated (almost) seamlessly to your Mac. This is not a place-on-the-desk-and-make-it-even-more-clutter USB hub. This thing goes under the chin of your iMac and becomes part of it. Designed with the newly introduced iMac Pro, as well as the 21.5-inch 4K and 27-inch 5K iMacs with Thunderbolt 3/USB-C ports, the Satechi Aluminum Type-C Clamp Hub Pro brings to the front micro/SD card readers, a data-only USB-C port, and three USB 3.0 ports.

Available in a choice of silver and space gray to match the machine you own, you can pick ups unit as a pre-order from Satechi website for $49.99. Or you could wait it out to be available on Amazon and support this blog. Just saying…
