Attention, kids who grew up watching Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles back when it was a genuine event and not just another thumbnail on a streaming menu. If you are going to relive it, you might as well do it properly, which means VHS. Big plastic cassette. Tracking issues. That satisfying clunk when it slides into the VCR. Nothing says early ’90s quite like that.
If you are onboard with the full nostalgia ritual, Vice Press Home Video has the first live-action Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles movie on VHS, complete with the original theatrical poster. Part of the ongoing celebration of the film’s 35th anniversary, this release understands that half the joy of revisiting TMNT is committing to the format that raised us.
Vice Press is not just slapping the movie onto a tape and calling it a day. This VHS release comes in green cassettes made specifically for the occasion. That alone already feels right. There are two Slipcase Editions available, one featuring the original theatrical artwork and another showcasing new artwork by Matt Ferguson.
Each slipcase includes spine stickers inspired by the four Turtle bandanas. One color per order, chosen at random. Order more than one, and Vice Press promises no duplicate bandanas, which feels oddly considerate for a nostalgia-fueled purchase.
There is also a Collector’s Edition, which comes with a reversible sleeve. One side features the original theatrical artwork, while the reverse offers alternate theatrical art. All versions include an exclusive A3 poster by Matt Ferguson, making it more enticing for collectors.
If VHS is not enough, Vice Press is also releasing the original theatrical poster as a 24 x 36-inch (61 x 91 cm) limited-edition print. There are 300 regular editions and 180 foil editions, marking the first time this artwork has been available with titles and credits properly restored.
This release is exclusive to Vice Press and available only in UK PAL format. The Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles collection will be available at 6 pm GMT (UK Time) on Thursday, the 29th of January at Vice-Press.com. Prices start at £39.99 (approximately 78 USD).
